AUTOMOBILE PASSES AND PARKING LOT

1.     Students are reminded that driving a vehicle to school is a privilege. Because of many problems associated with automobiles on campus, it is imperative that parking and driving regulations be complied with by all. If it becomes necessary to tow a vehicle, it will be done at the owner's risk and expense, and possibly without warning.
2.      Applications for student parking permits may be obtained from Mr. Strickler's office. Parking Permit applications must be completely filled in, including parent signature. Permits cost $75.00 each until January 27, when the price will be reduced to $40.00. When purchasing a permit, a valid driver’s license and current vehicle registration are required. Lost permits will not be refunded or replaced.
3.      Any student who does not have a parking permit affixed is subject to having his/her vehicle towed away at his/her own risk and expense.
4.      Students who become eligible to drive after September 14, 2009, must purchase a permit before driving to school.
5.       Students must park in the designated student parking lot. NO student parking is allowed in the faculty parking lot between the hours of 6:00a.m. and 3:00p.m. There is NO PARKING on the sides of the road directly behind the gym, or on the sidewalks in front of the tennis courts. Athletes are not permitted to park behind the gym or in the faculty parking lot after school during practice hours.
6.       No student may go to the parking lot during the school day--including lunch shifts. Excessive parking violations or tardiness to school will result in loss of student’s parking permit for the remainder of the term. (More than 10 tardies per term is considered excessive.)  No refunds will be issued.
7.      Any student younger than 18 years old shall be deemed a provisional driver. All provisionally licensed drivers will be issued a purple pass. For a period of one year, with a provisional driver’s license, there may only be one passenger present in the vehicle under the age of 18, who is not a member of the driver’s household. At the end of one year, provisionally licensed drivers under the age of 18 may have no more than three passengers, who are less than 18 years old, who are not a member of their household.
In cooperation with the County Sheriff’s Department, we will conduct periodic traffic checks as students leave school in the afternoons. Sheriff’s Deputy’s and school administrators will visually inspect vehicle parking passes as traffic exits school grounds.
Vehicles identified by restricted parking pass that contain more than one passenger and vehicles which do not display a parking pass are pulled over to check for compliance with state regulations. Drivers will be asked for their licenses, which will be inspected and the information recorded.
Drivers found not to be in compliance with restrictions regarding the number of underage passengers allowed are reminded of the regulations and warned that further violations may result in penalties. Parents will be contacted by phone and apprised of the violation and warnings issued. Drivers with a second offense will be subject to revocation of parking privileges.
PARKING/DRIVING VIOLATION PENALTIES:

1st offense - 1 week loss of driving privileges
2nd offense - 2 weeks loss of driving privileges
3rd offense- loss of driving privileges for the remainder of the term
and/or out of school suspension. No refunds will be given.
