Stafford Schools Closed During Winter Break

All Stafford County schools and offices will close at the end of business on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, and remain closed through Sunday, January 3, 2010.  Public services will not be available during this time.  Scheduled activities (such as athletic events or building use authorized for outside organizations) will continue as previously scheduled. 

Students and staff will report back to school on Monday, January 4, 2010.  New residents wishing to enroll a student should contact the registrar at the appropriate school for an appointment on January 4, 2010.  The attendance zone listing for the schools and registration requirements may be found using the links below.

Winter Break for students begins with an early release on December 22, 2009, and students report back to school on Monday, January 4, 2010.

2nd Vaccines for students ages 9 and under are not being released at this time.  Further questions about this topic should be directed to the Health Department.

Graduation Materials
Tuesday, December 8 will be the last chance for seniors to order their graduation materials.  A representative from Jostens will be in the cafeteria during all lunch shifts.  Seniors were given packets with ordering info during a Block 1 Senior Assembly on November 10th.  Initial orders were taken on the 12th and 13th of November.

ASVAB
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test will be given at NSHS on November 24.  Students may sign up in the Counseling Center.
Career Exploration Night at BPHS
Connecting our students to their future will be fast forwarded for those who attend the Career Exploration Night at Brooke Point on Thurs., Nov. 19, 6-8:30. Students may register in Counseling or online at http://tiny.cc/CareerNight
Not a career or job fair, this county-wide shared event is meant to give students a chance to hear about what is satisfying and interesting about different careers from the people who work in them each day. Also, the presenters will talk about their own career decision-making, and education, as well as related work experience, portfolios, soft skills and personal qualities, etc that are required for success.
CTE educators are invited to participate in the CTE display time 6-6:45. Everyone else is welcome to bring your own children as participants or to help with directing and checking in students and speakers. With over 50 speakers, and 400 parents and students, there will be a lot to do either way.
After School Activity Bus
The Activity Bus runs Monday through Thursday and departs the school at 5pm.  Those utilizing the bus must be involved in an after school activity or sport and must report to room 451 no later than 4:50pm.  There are 2 buses.  One bus will stop at Park Ridge Elementary and Hampton Oaks Elementary.  The second bus stops at Barrett Elementary and Moncure Elementary.  Additional stops may be requested through Transportation at 373-6095.  For more information please contact Ms Hall in the NSHS front office.
